i just wanted to share this because i thought it was something to maybe think about.
Dream Deferred
"What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
or does it explode?"
-Langston Hughes

christopher reeves has some pretty super stuff to say about dreams.
ReplyDeletepun not intended, honest.
sometimes he basically motivates my life.
I thought of an analogy for this quote or deferred dreams.
ReplyDeletecookies in the oven. You forget about cookies in the oven and eventually burn. leave them in there long enough they may even disintegrate. but when they burn, they create smoke and a smell that will linger even when the cookies are gone.
well.. it made sense in my head, in writing it seems kinda confusing.

ReplyDeleteand marten i get that analogy very much, and i think i like it better than the poem a little because its less gross.
